How to enter the Buxworth Gala Creative Arts Competition

The competition is open to any local primary school and is organised by the Buxworth Gala Committee as part of their main Gala event held at Buxworth Canal Basin Heritage site at Easter 2016. To help the Gala committee link to local primary schools Louise Moore, co-Headteacher at Buxworth Primary School, has kindly agreed to act as co-ordinator.

Age range — Children in either Key Stage 1 or 2 can enter the competition.

Categories — There are two categories that entries can be submitted under: [1] Photographic [2] Painting. Children can submit an entry in one or both categories.

Creative themes — As the Buxworth Gala takes place at the Scheduled Ancient Monument site of Bugsworth Canal Basin, we have decided that the theme should be based around the canal waterway and towpaths. The creative themes are: [1] Nature on the canal [2] Leisure on the canal [3] History of the canal.

How entries can be submitted

Photographic entry — Image can be submitted as a print in colour or black and white up to a maximum size of A4. On the reverse of the print detail: [a] Name of pupil [b] Year [c] School.

Painting entry — Original painting to be submitted to a maximum size of A3. On the reverse of the painting detail: [a] Name of pupil [b] Year [c] School.

Where entries are to be sent — All entries must be received for the attention of: Louise Moore, Buxworth Primary School, Station Road, Buxworth. SK23 7NJ NO LATER THAN FRIDAY 26th FEBRUARY 2016.

Judging — All entries will be judged by an independent group and judging will take place prior to the Buxworth Gala, which will be held on Easter Weekend 26th & 27th of March 2016.

Winning entries — There will be an overall winner of each category [2] who will each receive a book token worth £25.00 and two runners up in each category [4] who will each receive a book token worth £15.00.

Display of winning entries — The winning entries and a selection of all entries submitted will be displayed at Buxworth Primary School on Saturday 26th March 2016, times to be confirmed.
